Boasting the highest hot spring volume in Japan
Kamado Hell Hot Springs

A must-see tourist course in the hot spring resort, Beppu! Visit Kamado Jigoku Onsen, the most famous of the seven Jigoku hot springs. It is said that the name Kamado Jigoku originated from the practice of cooking rice with hot spring steam at about 90 degrees Celsius and offering it to the gods during the Kamado Hachimam Shrine Grand Festival. From the first mud hell, where clay melts and boils at a high temperature of 90 degrees, to the second hell, where steam at 100 degrees erupts between rocks, and the third hell, which is cobalt-colored due to melted amorphous silica, the underground ground melts at hot temperatures. The 4th Hell is a spewing mud hell pond, the 5th Hell is where you can enjoy the Honda-san Hell steam show that became famous on TV, and the 6th Hell is dark brown in color due to melted iron!

You can enjoy the hell of Gama Island, where there is no place to pass by. Through a pilgrimage to six hells, you will fall in love with the charm of hot springs that show off various colors depending on the composition of the hot spring water.

Introducing the map of Kamado Hell.

Kamado Jigoku Hot Springs has a variety of attractions stretching from numbers 1 to 6. The biggest attraction is that you can enjoy various hell hot springs in one place!

1. Kamado Hell No. 1:
Number 1 is a dark brown mud hell. It is created by geothermal heat in the underground bedrock, and is a color created by melting various sticky clays.

2. Kamado Hell No. 2:
There is a Kamado demon here, which can be said to be the mascot of Kamado Hell. Steam at 100 degrees Celsius comes out from a crevice in the rock.

3. Kamado Hell No. 3 (85 degrees):
cobalt blue hell
The white material is amorphous silica (a compound of silicon).
It is estimated to have been formed over about 70 years from hot spring sediments.

4. Throat spa (skin spa):
Geungnak 1st ~ Geungnak 4th Beonji - This is a place where you can experience hot springs.

5. Kamado Hell No. 4:
Number 4 is a pond in a boiling mud hell with a temperature of 80℃.
The color of this pond was created by geothermal heat in the underground bedrock, and is characterized by the melting of various sticky muds.

6. Kamado Hell No. 5:
A mysterious hell where the color of the pond changes
This pond suddenly changes color several times a year!

7. Kamado Hell No. 6:
A mud boil hell like No. 1 and No. 4. It was gray before, but the color changed every year until it became the same color as it is now.

I really recommend Kamado Hell No. 3.

Kamado Hell No. 3 is a cobalt blue hell that shines because of amorphous silica. It is estimated to have been formed over about 70 years from hot spring sediments.
