BESTAbsolutely amazing!
Each person writes
A personal narrative that will become a myth
Discover 'Myth: The Beginning of a Story', an engaging large-scale exhibition at Haeundae Museum 1. Featuring over 100 works by 18 contemporary artists from 5 countries, this exhibition makes contemporary art accessible with clearly defined themes for all.
Explore the modern 'myths' of our time – not traditional tales, but the pervasive influence of capitalism, media, and social media on individual thought and consciousness. The exhibition thoughtfully critiques the loss of self and the homogenization that can occur under these forces.
Instead, it powerfully highlights individual narratives of breaking free – stories of reclaiming personal essence and subjectivity that, in themselves, become new and compelling 'myths'.
Immerse yourself in a diverse collection of art forms, including striking installations, evocative paintings, compelling photographs, and immersive large-scale media art. We invite you to experience this thought-provoking exhibition and reflect on its timely themes.
Myth: The Beginning Story
Exhibition Overview
Introducing Museum 1’s new exhibition, "Myth: The Beginning Story." The myth that Museum 1 aims to convey is not a fictional tale, but rather a call to focus on each of our narratives that could one day become myths.
In modern society, we are gradually losing our sense of self and becoming increasingly uniform. The driving forces behind this phenomenon—capitalism, media, and social media—are intangible yet deeply influential, shaping our thoughts and consciousness. As a result, these modern myths drive people to measure their self-worth against intangible standards, causing the younger generation to perceive themselves as losers.
Purpose of the exhibition
This exhibition at Museum 1 was prepared with the meaning of focusing on the 'individual narrative that will become a myth' that each person writes, rather than the myth as a virtual story. The essential purpose of the exhibition is to break free from the intangible shackles that society imposes and to recover the essence of life and the subjectivity of the self.
While appreciating this exhibition, please create a precious time to face your inner self, ask yourself endless questions about your life and yourself, and answer them.
