Exploring ancient fossils,
La Brea Tar Pits
The La Brea Tar Pits Museum is an ancient natural history museum that protects and shares over 5 million fossils and artifacts. It displays fossils of ancient animals found in tar pits dating back approximately 50,000 years, so if you are interested in prehistoric creatures and the natural history of the Earth, this is the place to visit.
Learning from fossils,
The Past of Ancient Animals
You can see over 1,000 species of animals from the ancient ecosystem of about 40,000 to 50,000 years ago. The museum will provide a special experience where you can see the past and present appearances of large extinct mammals such as saber-toothed cats, wolves, and mammoths, and see how living things become fossils and how scientists study them.
A steaming tar pit
Tar pits are places where ancient animals were trapped and unable to escape, and are special places where you can see the natural fossilization process. I recommend taking a walk around the tar pits because the sight of steam and tar spewing out from the tar pits is very impressive.
Excavator Tour Experience
The Excavator Tour, which allows you to experience an actual fossil excavation site, is a chance to see and learn how experts use tools such as excavators to excavate and study fossils. The tour is included with general admission and can be reserved on site.
