The Louvre Museum began with the first exhibition of 537 paintings on August 10, 1793, and has now grown into a space that exhibits thousands of works under eight curators. Perhaps that is why it is considered a must-visit destination for most tourists visiting Paris.

The Louvre Museum is one of the most iconic landmarks in Paris because it houses works of art such as the Mona Lisa and the Venus de Milo. It is also a must-see because of the amazing architecture of the Louvre Palace, and the fact that the statues of monarchs inside the palace walls rotate to show the Louvre incorporating several architectural styles.

There are countless works of art to see at the Louvre, but the Mona Lisa, da Vinci's masterpiece, is the most visited masterpiece in the Louvre. There are also many lesser-known but masterpieces, such as the collection of Hellenistic sculptures such as the Sleeping Hermaphroditus, and the impressive Egyptian collection located on the first floor of the Louvre is not to be missed. Here you can see the Great Sphinx, the Sarcophagus Exhibition Hall, and the statue of Pharaoh Ramses II.

Small Louvre Museum Tips

The Louvre Museum is famous for always being crowded! So when is it the least crowded? We will tell you the least crowded time with data by day of the week and hour.

First of all, surprisingly, the evening is the quietest time. The morning is always crowded with many people. Every Friday, the Louvre Museum is open until 9:30 PM, but many people don't know this, so the last admission time is 8 PM, which is the best. In particular, 8 PM on Fridays is the quietest time to see the Louvre Museum.

If you can't get in on a Friday night, Wednesday is the best time to go. There are always fewer visitors on Wednesdays than on other days of the week.

Be sure to visit Cafe Marley

Cafe Marley, located across from the Louvre Museum pyramid, is a great place to enjoy coffee while looking at the Louvre Museum. The seats are romantic and the atmosphere is really nice. They sell a variety of breads along with coffee, and the taste is also top-notch.

It's open until 2am, so I recommend visiting after you've finished seeing the Louvre Museum.
