BESTThe audio guides were very helpful for understanding the meaning behind the masterpieces!
The best museum in Paris and without a doubt a must-see is the Louvre. The Louvre Museum has a wide variety of things to see, including a whopping 35,000 world-class works of art, antiques, and unique cafes and shops.
In particular, it is so popular that 8 million visitors visit every year to see Da Vinci's masterpiece, the Mona Lisa, which is the most popular work, so I recommend a visit if you are traveling to Paris.
From the Renaissance to ancient Egyptian artifacts,
The Louvre, the best museum in the world
The Louvre Museum is a place where the world's most important works are displayed, and you can see the all-too-familiar 'Mona Lisa' as well as Renaissance and ancient Egyptian artifacts.
The Louvre Museum first exhibited 537 paintings on August 10, 1793, and has now developed into a space displaying thousands of works divided into eight curators. Is that why? It is considered a must-visit destination for most tourists visiting Paris.
The most iconic place in Paris, the Louvre Museum
The reason the Louvre Museum has become the most iconic attraction in Paris is because you can see works such as the Mona Lisa or the Venus de Milo. You can also see the amazing architecture of the Louvre Palace, and you can see the Louvre's combination of several architectural styles by rotating the statues of the monarchs within the palace walls, making it a must-visit attraction.
You must see this
There are countless works to see at the Louvre Museum, but among them, Da Vinci's representative work, the Mona Lisa, is the most visited masterpiece at the Louvre Museum. There are also many lesser-known but masterpieces. Don't miss the collection of Hellenistic sculptures, such as 'Sleeping Hermaphroditus', as well as the impressive Egyptian collection located on the first floor of the Louvre. Here you can see the Giant Sphinx, the Sarcophagus Gallery, and the statue of Pharaoh Ramses II.
Introducing exhibitions on each floor
I will organize what works are on display on each floor of the Louvre Museum and what we should see.
1st floor (Rez-de-chaussée):
Ancient Egyptian, Greek and Roman artworks
2nd floor (1st floor):
Exhibition of works by world-famous artists
Leonardo da Vinci's Mona Lisa exhibition
3rd floor (2nd floor):
Exhibition of French paintings by era
Exhibition of works by Rembrandt, Rubens, and Van Dyck
These works should never be missed. Be sure to come and see them all!
Little Louvre Museum tips
The Louvre Museum is famous for always being crowded! So when is it the busiest? We will tell you the busiest times through data by day and hour.
First of all, surprisingly, evening time is the quietest. Morning time is always crowded with many people. Every Friday, the Louvre Museum is open until 9:30 p.m., but there are many people who don't know this, so the last admission time is 8 p.m. In particular, admission at 8pm on Friday night is the quietest time to see the Louvre Museum.
If you have trouble getting in on Friday evening, Wednesday is best. There are always fewer visitors on Wednesdays than on other days of the week.
Be sure to visit Cafe Mali
Café Mali, located across from the Louvre Museum pyramid, is a great place to enjoy coffee while looking at the Louvre Museum. The seats are romantic and the atmosphere is really nice. They sell a variety of breads along with coffee, and the taste is top notch.
It's open until 2 a.m., so I recommend visiting after you've seen the Louvre Museum.
Conveniently enter directly with your voucher
The Louvre Museum is always full of people. So, if you buy a ticket on site and enter, the waiting time is really long. However, booking tickets through WAUG is surprisingly convenient. When you reserve a ticket, you will receive it immediately and there is no need to stop by the ticket office. Afterwards, you can enter right away by presenting your voucher at the ‘Priority Access’ line.
You can save at least 30 minutes to an hour, so save time and enjoy comfortably by purchasing tickets in advance.
