Inside the Bois de Blouneu,
Louis Vuitton Foundation Museum of Art
When traveling around Europe, even people who aren’t interested in art tend to visit art museums at least once. In addition to the Louvre Museum and the Musee d’Orsay, I’d like to introduce you to another art museum that you might be really interested in. It’s the Louis Vuitton Foundation Art Museum! The Louis Vuitton Foundation Art Museum, which opened in 2014, is located in the Boulogne Forest.
Although it is a bit far from the city center, it is a large fashion company, so they collaborate with famous art galleries from all over the world, so you can see many good exhibitions and works of art.
Architectural design worthy of its reputation,
Excellent collection
Take a tour of the Louis Vuitton Foundation’s galleries, designed by Frank Gehry! Louis Vuitton founder Bernard Arnault wanted to create a stunning space for art and culture in Paris, and the result is the Louis Vuitton Foundation. With its boat-like interior and natural light, it’s a great place to see a variety of masterpieces. In particular, the glass building on the second floor showcases Gehry’s bold designs as well as temporary exhibitions of modern and contemporary art.
Who is Frank Gehry?
Frank Gehry, known as a deconstructivist architect, is characterized by his unconventional, unique and innovative style, and collages that combine fragmented pieces to reconstruct new images. He is also famous for his use of curved shapes and metal materials in his architectural works.
The Louis Vuitton Foundation building is similarly composed of curved and fluid forms, and is surrounded by glass, allowing natural light to flood the interior. Filled with natural light, it is the perfect place to view the many masterpieces.
Take a closer look at the features
Glass and Steel Combination: The building is made of steel and glass, giving it a modern yet open feel. The 3,600 glass panels on the exterior of the building are seamlessly combined to create a breathtaking view. Because of the transparent glass walls, the building disappears into the forest at night and reappears in the morning light.
Water Element: Small ponds and flowing water elements exist around the building, emphasizing harmony with nature.
Various spaces: The Louis Vuitton Foundation is used as a space for various art and cultural events. Inside, there are galleries, concert halls, and multi-purpose spaces, where various art events and exhibitions are held.
When you visit, take note of these features, which make the Louis Vuitton Foundation a cultural and artistic center in France and a work of art in itself.
Travel comfortably by shuttle bus
The Louis Vuitton Foundation shuttle bus departs from exit 2 of "Charles-de-Gaulle Etoile" near the Charles de Gaulle Square metro station. During operating hours, it departs every 15 to 20 minutes. When the Louis Vuitton Foundation is closed, the last shuttle bus departs from the foundation 7 minutes later. Just show your mobile voucher to the driver and board.
Enjoy a picnic on a nice day
Food is not allowed, but on nice days, you can bring snacks and eat them on the terrace. Coffee and hot chocolate are also available for purchase. Also, next to the museum is the large Parc d'Acclimatation, which is connected to the main entrance. There is an admission fee, but visitors to the Louis Vuitton Foundation can enter for free, so I highly recommend stopping by.
Use the VIP priority entrance
Enjoy priority access to all temporary exhibitions, security checks and permanent collections. A quicker way to explore the busy Louis Vuitton Foundation! Scan your mobile voucher at the dedicated premium entrance at the main entrance and then proceed through security checks.
