Did you know that the route to Mt. Hiei consists of a single-stage cable car and a two-stage ropeway? The Eizan Cable Car is a means of transportation that travels 561m high and about 1.3km in 9 minutes, and you can enjoy the cherry blossoms in spring and the autumn foliage tunnel through the car window.
You can get to the top of Mt. Hiei by getting off the cable car and transferring to the ropeway. You can purchase ropeway tickets here !
Climbing Mount Hiei

Mount Hiei, 848 meters high, is home to Enryaku-ji Temple, founded in 788! This is a popular spot where you can view Kyoto’s traditional scenery, including Lake Biwa, all at once.
There are several ways to get up to Mt. Hiei, but the easiest and most beautiful way is to take the Eizan Cable Car, get off, and then transfer to the ropeway to reach the summit.

Take the Eizan Electric Railway and get off at Demachiyanagi Station or Yase Hieizanguchi Station.
From Kyoto Municipal Subway's Kokusai Kaikan Station, take the bus bound for Kyoto Yase/Ohara and get off at Yase-ekimae.
