History of La Fenice Theater
La Fenice Theater was designed by Italian architect Gian Antonio Selva in 1774 and opened in 1792. At the time, it was loved as the most luxurious and modern theater in Venice, but it was destroyed by fire just 18 years after its opening. Afterwards, the reconstruction of the theater began with donations from Venetian citizens, and the new La Fenice Theater opened in 837. The new theater became even more popular with its extravagant decorations and excellent acoustics, making it one of the main stages of Italian opera.
Even today, La Fenice Theater is one of Venice's iconic buildings, and various opera and ballet performances are held there every year.
