The History of La Fenice Theater

La Fenice Theater was designed by Italian architect Gian Antonio Selva in 1774 and opened in 1792. At the time, it was beloved as the most glamorous and modern theater in Venice, but it was destroyed by fire just 18 years after its opening. Later, with donations from the citizens of Venice, reconstruction of the theater began, and the new La Fenice Theater opened in 1837. The new theater gained even greater popularity with its ornate decorations and excellent acoustics, establishing itself as one of the central stages of Italian opera.

La Fenice Theater remains one of Venice's iconic landmarks today, hosting a variety of opera and ballet performances every year.
