Azulejo Museum
The Portuguese National Tile Museum (Museu Nacional do Azulejo) is one of Portugal's important and unique national museums, housing a spectacular collection of Azulejo tiles. Glass tile craft, called azulejo, is said to be a unique artistic expression of Portuguese culture. The museum building began in the 16th century as the building of the Madre Deus convent, creating a suitable atmosphere for appreciating the azulejo.
