in a pottery factory
An experience like this?
Koraku Kiln is a pottery factory where artists who make pottery gather. Here, you can learn about bamboo and kiln unglazing, the history of bows, and even try archery using ceramics. Feel your inner Jumong by practicing archery using unglazed Arita ware! Here you can freely experience activities that are taboo in other places, such as breaking pottery with arrows.
At this moment when you shoot a bow, you can become Hawkeye.
One shot, one kill!
Become a sharpshooter
In the archery experience at the pottery factory and Koraku kiln, you can learn about bamboo and kiln unglazing, the history of bows, how to make bows and arrows, and even archery methods. Aren’t you excited about archery? Hitting the exact center of a ceramic target is a really good feeling.
You can learn in detail everything from how to stand when archery, how to hold an arrow, and how to shoot a bow. So, shall we become a sharpshooter and destroy the ceramic target? The sound of the target breaking relieves stress!
Handmade bows and targets, I like this.
At the Adventure Archery Academy, you make bows and arrows using knives or saws. The material for the bow is made from maengjong bamboo, which is depleting forests, and the target is made from unglazed firewood that was discarded during the production of Arita-yaki. While enjoying a fun experience, you can also contribute to environmental issues.
This is an experience that even young children can do, and get used to archery through a special experience unique to Koraku Gama!
Arita porcelain, Arita ware
You may be wondering what Arita-yaki is, which is the material used for the target. It refers to pottery manufactured in Arita Village and the surrounding areas of Saga Prefecture. As Japan's first ceramic production center, it has continued to produce products, mainly tableware and crafts, for 400 years. What makes it special is that it features transparent white porcelain, dyed with cobalt tones, and gorgeous red painted porcelain.
