Climbing Mount Fuji, a consistently popular activity
Standing at 3,776 meters above sea level, Mt. Fuji overlooks Japan and is a symbol of Japan, a popular tourist destination for many climbers.
Mt. Fuji is a Japanese 'cultural heritage' that is registered as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is not a natural heritage site, is it? To be exact, it is not Mt. Fuji itself that is registered, but cultural properties that regard Mt. Fuji as a sacred place and a source of artistic inspiration.
The most popular choice for climbers, the Yoshida route
The Yoshida Trail is the most popular route for climbing Mt. Fuji, with its wide-open views and well-equipped facilities for viewing the sunrise. The starting point, the 5th Station, is lined with cafes, restaurants, and souvenir shops, so if you forgot anything, you can buy it here!
This is what makes it special!
