BESTWhen I think of 'photo exhibition', the image that immediately comes to mind is straight photography, but it was interesting to see many experimental works that boldly overturned the stereotypes I had about photography, and I was looking forward to seeing what form the advancement of science and technology would change the art of photography. It was an exhibition! Going beyond adjusting the settings at the time of shooting or digitally modifying the footage, I was able to see how the status and meaning of photography in art history has developed by encountering works that borrow techniques from painting and touch on the physical aspects of photography. It is a large exhibition that can be easily explored in about an hour and a half, and it is located close to Samcheong-dong, where the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art and other galleries are concentrated, so purchase it when you can get a discount coupon at WAUG and visit it as a gallery tour by combining it with other exhibitions. I also recommend doing this :))
More real than reality
Pink moment
Artist Soyeon Jeong's solo exhibition, 'The Pink Moment', has been expressing the contemporary world where created images replace reality for 30 years through various media such as video, painting, and installation.
The author focused on the 'pink' lives of women, which are different from reality, and the 'pink' ideals of human desire projected onto the mass media, which dominate society. As a program related to the exhibition, there are lectures and docents prepared by the author to help you understand the work, so take your time to appreciate the exhibition and figure out what the artist is trying to express through the work.
This exhibition is being held at Seonggok Art Museum Hall 2, and Rosemary Trockel's 'Drawing, Object, Video' will be held at Hall 1 during the same period. If you purchase a combined ticket, you can see both exhibitions at a reasonable price.

Jeong So-yeon solo exhibition
The Pink Moment
From August 29 to October 27, Seonggok Art Museum will host Soyeon Jeong's solo exhibition, 'The Pink Moment' as part of the invitational exhibition of mid-career Korean artists.
In the artist's early works, which originated from her personal story, we can see works that focus on all the personal yet social contexts of women, such as women, marriage, and sex, which are repeatedly exposed in the mass media in a beautiful pink color, unrelated to actual daily life. In her later works from around 2010, the artist explores the theme of women, in which these 'pink' landscapes are a collection of human desires for a utopia, and in which the pink image replaces reality.
