BESTWhen I think of 'photo exhibition', the image that immediately comes to mind is straight photography, but it was interesting to see many experimental works that boldly overturned the stereotypes I had about photography, and I was looking forward to seeing what form the advancement of science and technology would change the art of photography. It was an exhibition! Going beyond adjusting the settings at the time of shooting or digitally modifying the footage, I was able to see how the status and meaning of photography in art history has developed by encountering works that borrow techniques from painting and touch on the physical aspects of photography. It is a large exhibition that can be easily explored in about an hour and a half, and it is located close to Samcheong-dong, where the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art and other galleries are concentrated, so purchase it when you can get a discount coupon at WAUG and visit it as a gallery tour by combining it with other exhibitions. I also recommend doing this :))

Between a photograph and a painting,
3pm in Seoul
As digital cameras became commonplace, enjoy the pictorial world of Seoul’s landscapes and people drawn by nine artists who explored drawing between photography and painting. They have one thing in common: they sought to draw with a clear sense of self as painters while utilizing photography.
'3PM' is a time zone that is in reality but makes you want to look somewhere else. It is a pictorial space and time that emphasizes personal sensibility rather than an exact image reproduced through a camera, and it expresses the attitude taken toward reality. The English title 'cloudy' indicates the subtle, insufficient emotions that permeate their paintings and is based on a neutral viewpoint on the changes of the times. It encompasses the sense of indebtedness toward the generation that fought for democracy, the tension and anxiety that still remain, nostalgia, or the newly beginning hope and imagination in personal space without being excessive. Check out the climate of reality and the trends of Korean figurative art in the 2000s as expressed through their eyes at Seonggok Art Museum.
