The Mesdak Collection is a special museum located in the building that was the couple’s private residence, so we highly recommend visiting. The exhibition space, which preserves the interior of a typical 19th-century Dutch mansion, creates an old-fashioned atmosphere that blends well with the various collections, making it a great place to enjoy the works in a more immersive way.
Hendrik Willem Mesdak
Hendrik Willem Mesdak, a Dutch painter from Groningen, is known to have moved to The Hague to study art and work there. Mesdak painted many pictures with maritime landscapes as the subject, and the sea, waves, and ships appear frequently in his works. Check out his various works in the Mesdak Collection!
