Lux Night KUMAMOTO 2025, a nighttime art event held in Kumamoto, a city rich in history and culture.
The theme for 2025 is Miyamoto Musashi × Hosokawa Culture. In Kumamoto, where the legendary swordsman Miyamoto Musashi spent the last five years of his life, experience his artistic and philosophical journey through bamboo lanterns, light, and music.
A quiet moment for a man who put down his sword and picked up his brush.
The moment you step into Musashi's world drawn with light, you will meet Musashi not as a 'swordsman' but as an 'artist'.

Putting down the sword, drawing enlightenment through art
In the early 17th century, Miyamoto Musashi, renowned for his victories in numerous duels, left the world of competition after the Ganryujima duel and headed to Kumamoto to find his path as a human being. There, he met the renowned general Tadatoshi Hosokawa and was reborn as an artist, devoting himself to calligraphy, painting, and crafts, rather than a warrior. This Lux Night KUMAMOTO 2025 is an immersive night walk event that follows the traces of his thoughts and art. In a space where bamboo lanterns, fantastical lighting, and music come together,
You can experience Musashi's inner self and the sentiments of Kumamoto that he loved.
The spirit of Musashi, which blossomed in the bosom of the Hosokawa family, still softly illuminates the nights of Kumamoto.
Following the eight rays of light, walking through Musashi's night

As the sun sets, Suizenji Garden opens its doors to eight paths of light. In the first section, a narrative symbolically weaving together Musashi's life begins.
knot
You will encounter a light installation that weaves together symbols of Musashi's life.
The theme of the journey becomes clear from the first scene, and as you move forward, the story's knot begins to appear.
The realm of the ball
Expressing a clear and empty state of mind with lasers and light.
As you follow the lines and planes that spread out into the sky, you will feel a moment when your thoughts become lighter.
beat
Visualize the rhythm and breathing of military strategy with light and sound.
The heartbeat that beats to your footsteps permeates your body, and your breathing naturally becomes regulated.
Carry the sun
Draw the weight of the day and the flow of time with light and shadow.
Watching scenes where light and darkness intersect, I find balance in my heart again.
flow of mind
Follow the flow of your mind with projections that spread across the surface of the water.
As I watch the gentle ripples, my thoughts slowly settle down and my vision broadens.
The relationship between Musashi and Tadatoshi
It illuminates the relationship between Musashi and Tadatoshi with a quiet light.
Along the invisible line connecting the two, you feel the warmth of art, protection, and trust.
coffin and thorn
It's a space that asks how to see rather than what to see.
If you change your perspective, you can read the same scene differently, and I feel that your viewing attitude changes your experience.
sublimation
At the end of the journey, we reach a moment when the reason for life is refined and rises into the light.
When I encounter a quiet scene, today's steps become small realizations.
This night stroll isn't just a simple light show. It's a journey into the time of a man who laid down his sword and drew enlightenment through art. Amidst the bamboo lanterns, light, and sound, and amidst the air of Kumamoto, let's take a leisurely stroll through Musashi's thoughts.
After eight scenes, we all see the night with slightly different eyes.
