The Golden Empire of the Ancient Andes Comes to Tokyo
The CREVIA Machu Picchu exhibition, featuring approximately 130 precious cultural assets officially certified by the Peruvian government, will be unveiled for the first time in Japan. This special exhibition on the ancient Andes, presented 13 years after the 2012 "Inca Empire Exhibition," invites visitors to the "City in the Sky," Machu Picchu, with an upgraded scale and presentation.
This special traveling exhibition brings together approximately 130 cultural artifacts, including gold ornaments, ritual implements, and pottery, specially loaned from the world-renowned Museo Larco in Lima, Peru. Key artifacts, including gold ornaments excavated from royal tombs and ritual implements used in temple ceremonies, are being displayed for the first time abroad, vividly conveying the aesthetics and technological prowess of the splendid ancient Andean civilization.
At the center of the exhibition hall, an immersive experience space depicting the city in the sky, Machu Picchu, is realized using cutting-edge digital technology. Built atop a steep mountain ridge, the mystical city is recreated through light, sound, and large-scale projections, creating the sensation of walking into an actual ruin. Furthermore, the storytelling structure follows the epic epic of Ay Apaec, a hero from Andean mythology, offering an experience that goes beyond simply viewing artifacts and feels like a journey into a world of story.
This CREVIA Machu Picchu exhibition is the second in a series of historical exhibitions presented by NEON, the same company that planned the Ramses the Great Temple. This highly anticipated exhibition has already captivated over 540,000 visitors across four cities worldwide, making it a must-see for anyone interested in ancient civilizations, history, art, and digital production!
Embark on a new intellectual adventure in Tokyo at this experiential cultural exhibition that explores the still-enigmatic Machu Picchu and the ancient Andean civilization on a grand scale and immersive presentation.
