Meeting the Spring of Kyoto,
Omuro Cherry Blossoms
Omuro Sakura, the symbol of Ninna-ji Temple, has a unique charm that allows you to appreciate the flower clusters right in front of your eyes because it is shorter than ordinary cherry trees. This special forest, protected as a national scenic spot, is called Kyoto's last cherry blossom due to its late blooming characteristics, and offers an overwhelming visual richness with double cherry blossoms and azaleas.
Symbol of Ninna-ji Temple, Five-Storied Pagoda

The 36m-high five-storied pagoda, rebuilt in 1644, is an important cultural property that showcases the essence of Edo-era architectural aesthetics. The majestic silhouette that stretches into the sky in contrast to the low-blooming Omuro cherry blossoms is one of the most classic and beautiful landscapes symbolizing Kyoto's spring.

A time for quiet contemplation in the Gosho Garden, imbued with the dignity of the Imperial Family
The Gosho Garden, which retains traces of Omuro Gosho where the imperial family once resided, is the culmination of sophisticated aesthetics. The garden trees and white sand garden arranged around the pond show a restrained beauty, and the silhouette of the five-storied pagoda seen beyond the garden is the pinnacle of the classic scenery that can only be appreciated at Ninna-ji.

A continuous feast of flowers
During the festival period, which runs until May 6, a variety of flowers bloom in succession, including not only cherry blossoms but also vivid azaleas and rhododendrons. In particular, the refreshing fresh green maple leaves (Aomomiji) that fill the space where the flowers have fallen allow you to fully feel the vibrancy of Kyoto on the threshold of summer. 'If you visit Kyoto a little later than others in the spring, Ninna-ji Temple is not an option but a must. The feeling of being buried in flower clouds is a luxury allowed only here.'
