The Musée de l'Orangerie is a museum located within the Tuileries Garden in Paris, housed in a former orangery (greenhouse) originally built to store orange trees. It is most famous as the permanent home for Claude Monet's massive "Water Lilies" (Les Nymphéas) cycle of 8 paintings, which he donated as a symbol of peace after WWI.
The two elliptical rooms are specially designed to immerse visitors, giving the illusion of being surrounded by the pond. Additionally, the museum houses the impressive Walter-Guillaume Collection of Impressionist and Post-Impressionist masters, including works by Picasso, Renoir, and Matisse.
