In the southern reaches of Japan lies Miyakojima, an island where turquoise waters meet white sandy beaches, and time seems to slow down. Amidst this serene backdrop, Rosewood Miyakojima emerges as a sanctuary of luxury and tranquility, inviting travelers to experience the harmonious blend of nature and refined hospitality.
Harmonious Design with Nature
Opened in March 2025, Rosewood Miyakojima is nestled amidst the sugarcane fields of northern Miyakojima, overlooking the stunning Oura Bay. Designed by Dutch architectural studio Studio Piet Boon, the resort incorporates Ryukyu limestone and the Japanese philosophy of wabi-sabi to create a harmonious blend with nature. It features 55 ocean-view villas and houses, each named to reflect the island's terrain and culture.
Dining with Local Ingredients
The resort offers four restaurants and bars, providing a variety of dishes using local ingredients:
CHOMA: A restaurant reinterpreting traditional Japanese cuisine
YUKUU: Casual dining at the poolside bar
MAAS: Seafood-focused dishes
NAGI: All-day dining with Italian cuisine
These dining options offer guests the opportunity to experience the rich food culture of Miyakojima.
Asaya Spa and Wellness Programs
The resort's Asaya Spa features six treatment rooms, a yoga studio, and a fitness center, offering wellness programs inspired by local traditions, including a mud mask ritual influenced by the Paantu festival.
Cultural and Nature Experiences
Rosewood Miyakojima provides guests with various cultural and nature experiences:
Calligraphy Classes: Learn calligraphy with local artists
Coral Reef Snorkeling: Explore the beautiful sea of Miyakojima
Sea Turtle Observation: Learn about and observe sea turtles
These activities are suitable for families, and the Rosewood Explorers Club offers programs for children.
