Fairmont Tokyo opened its doors in Shibaura, Tokyo on July 1, 2025. This hotel, the first in Japan from the world-renowned luxury hotel brand 'Fairmont' which boasts over 100 years of history, is located at the core of 'Blue Front Shibaura,' a large-scale development project connecting Tokyo Bay and the city center.
In this magazine, we will talk about how this new landmark harmonizes Japanese tradition with global luxury.
Architecture, Connecting Tradition and Modernity
The design philosophy of Fairmont Tokyo lies in 'harmony.' The 217 guest rooms utilize the structure of the 'Engawa', a traditional Japanese house veranda, to blur the boundary between inside and outside and draw the panoramic scenery of Tokyo into the room as a part of it.
The room interiors are decorated with artworks inspired by 'Kintsugi,' a traditional craft technique of mending broken pottery with gold. This is a detail that shows the hotel's philosophy of respecting the traces of the past and finding new beauty within them.
Dining and a Special Experience
The hotel features seven restaurants and bars, offering a diverse culinary experience.
At the 'Driftwood Bar and Restaurant', located on the 43rd floor, you can spend a romantic evening directly facing the Tokyo Tower. Furthermore, the standing bar 'Yoi to Yoi', inspired by Japan's 'Tachinomiya' (standing bar) culture, and the Japanese restaurant 'Migiwa', where you can taste sushi while overlooking Tokyo Bay, offer experiences only possible here.
There is a very special employee in the lobby of this hotel. 'Serene', a Labrador Retriever, serves as Fairmont Tokyo's Chief Happiness Officer (CHO) and has the important mission of giving the warmest welcome to guests. If you haven't decided on your Tokyo accommodation yet, how about considering Fairmont Tokyo?
