The Busan Opera House, currently under construction in the North Port of Busan with a target completion date in the second half of 2026, is a work of art and architecture that is expected to make the city's landscape even more beautiful.
A Design from Snøhetta, the Architects of the Oslo Opera House
@부산시
The design of the Opera House was entrusted to the renowned Norwegian architectural firm, Snøhetta. Its original, non-linear curved facade, reminiscent of a pearl nestled within a shell, creates a perfect harmony with the beautiful sea of Busan. The immense structure, spanning a total of 51,617 sqm (approx. 15,614 pyeong) over two underground and five above-ground floors, will house a grand theater with 1,800 seats and a small theater with 300 seats, set to showcase world-class performances.
An Open Space for the Public, Where Architecture Is Art
@부산시
The Busan Opera House is more than just a place to watch performances. Designed to enhance public accessibility, the building's roof is a walkable space from the ground up, and the rooftop's open-air stage offers a beautiful view of the North Port. The circular void in the center of the lobby organically connects the performance halls and extends to an artificial pond outside, creating an experience where the city, the sea, and culture all come together in harmony.
The Busan Opera House is a place where the sea and art meet. Look forward to the special stories that will unfold in 2026 at this new cultural heart of Busan.
