Kyoto Yumeyakata Traditional Tea Room Tea Ceremony

Experience Kyoto's tea ceremony
in a serene traditional tea room

The tea ceremony takes place in a serene traditional tea room where time seems to slow down. An experienced tea master guides you in English and Japanese with an interpreter, and up to 10 people join each session. If sitting on the floor is uncomfortable, small chairs are available.

Learn the philosophy and etiquette, then make your own matcha

Guided by the tea master, learn about the philosophy, etiquette, and spirit of the Japanese tea ceremony. After watching matcha carefully prepared with traditional utensils, whisk your own matcha into a bowl using a bamboo whisk (chasen). You will also receive a guide explaining the tea ceremony.

Taste Kyoto matcha and traditional sweets

Enjoy matcha made from premium green tea sourced from a local Kyoto tea producer. It is served with delicate Japanese sweets made by a long-established Kyoto confectioner.

※ The booked time is the start time of the tea ceremony. Late arrivals may join, but the session cannot be extended.
