Explore hidden gems of the northern Kyoto coast
in one day
Board an air-conditioned bus in Osaka (07:30) or Kyoto (08:00) and travel about 2 hours to Amanohashidate. With an English- and Chinese-speaking guide, visit Amanohashidate, Ine and Miyama in turn before returning to your departure city.
Enjoy views and walks at Amanohashidate
Spend about 2 hours at Amanohashidate. With the cable car option, ride up to Hiryu Observatory at Amanohashidate View Land and look down on the pine-lined sandbar and the sea. At Chion-ji, dedicated to Monju Bosatsu, burn incense and draw a fan-shaped omikuji, then cross the swing bridge (Kaisen Bridge) and stroll along Amanohashidate beach.
With the cruise option, enjoy a 20-minute sightseeing boat ride with seagulls flying alongside and beautiful coastal scenery.
Wander the fishing village of Ine Funaya
Spend about 45 minutes in Ine, where wooden funaya boathouses line the shore as if built on the sea. Look out over the blue waters of Ine Bay and walk slowly through the streets of this old fishing village.
See old Japan in the thatched-roof village of Miyama
Enjoy about 45 minutes of free time at Miyama Kayabuki no Sato, surrounded by mountains. Wander the village of traditional thatched-roof houses, and if you like, visit the Miyama Folk Museum for an extra fee or try milk ice cream. Then travel about 2 hours by bus back to your departure city.
