Kyoto Maiko Dance Performance & Traditional Games

Meet a maiko or geiko
up close in Kyoto

This 30–40 minute program takes place in an experience space inside a building near Gojo Station. Depending on the day, a maiko or geiko is invited; who will attend cannot be confirmed in advance, but the program content is the same. The main program lasts about 30 minutes, followed by photos and a chat, and the room is cleared about 45 minutes after the start.

Watch two graceful dance performances

The maiko or geiko performs two dances to music, expressing Japan's four seasons, love stories and scenes of everyday life. You can watch these elegant, expressive dances up close and capture them in photos.

Enjoy traditional games with the maiko and guests

Enjoy simple but exciting traditional games together. Volunteers from the audience play directly with the maiko or geiko while the other guests clap and cheer. It's fun even just to watch.

Take a photo and receive a good-luck charm

After the program, you can take a commemorative photo right next to the maiko or geiko. You'll receive a small 'senjafuda' good-luck charm as a special gift, and after the maiko or geiko leaves, there is a short time for conversation.
