Explore Murano and Burano
in the Venetian Lagoon by Speedboat
Depending on your option, you depart from the meeting point in the San Marco area or the train station (Piazzale Roma) area. If you start from the train station area, you travel about 30 minutes by speedboat, make a short stop at San Marco, and then head into the lagoon. All transfers between the islands are by boat, and live multilingual commentary is provided on board.
Watch a Glassblowing Demonstration in Murano
Your first stop, Murano, is famous for its centuries-old glassmaking tradition. At a glass factory, watch an artisan blow glass and shape a piece, and learn how to distinguish different artisans and brands and what makes each piece unique. After the demonstration, you have free time to explore the island.
Stroll Through Burano and Its Colorful Houses
Next, cruise to Burano, known for its colorful houses and intricate lacework. During your free time, walk along the canals and see landmarks such as the leaning bell tower and Piazza Baldassarre Galuppi, named after a famous 18th-century Venetian composer. You can also visit traditional lace shops and see the delicate craft carried on by the island's artisans.
Return to Your Starting Point
After exploring Burano, travel about 45 minutes by boat back to the meeting point where you started. The whole tour takes about 5 to 5.5 hours.
