Dining at Wada in Sapporo was such a refined and memorable experience. I booked it while searching for Michelin-starred places in Hokkaido, and it absolutely lived up to the reputation. The dishes were beautifully presented, seasonal, and perfectly balanced — especially the seafood course, which was incredibly fresh.



The restaurant itself is small and intimate, with a calm atmosphere that made the whole meal feel very personal. The chef was kind and even tried to explain some dishes in simple English. It’s not flashy, but quietly excellent.

Definitely one of the culinary highlights of my Hokkaido trip!

Wada Restaurant in Sapporo, Hokkaido, is located in a quiet alley a 5-minute walk from Maruyama Park, a well-known tourist attraction. It has received much praise for its excellent taste since it opened, and was awarded one Michelin star in 2017.

Chef 'Wada Hayato' was born on Okushiri Island in Hokkaido, so he is familiar with the seasonal specialties of Okushiri Island, such as wild vegetables, mushrooms, and sea urchin. Therefore, he actively introduces local specialties to the menu, presenting customers with a variety of local dishes. If you want to experience the true taste of Hokkaido, we recommend Wada Restaurant.
