After pickup from your hotel in central Perth, cross the Perth Hills and the Darling Scarp into farming country. Head east to York, the first town established in the Avon Valley, where you have free time to explore and grab a coffee (at your own expense).
Travel through the outback farmland to Hippo’s Yawn
Follow the Wheatbelt highway through farming towns such as Corrigin and Kondinin into the outback countryside. Pass the famous dog cemetery that honors dogs as part of rural life, and visit Hippo’s Yawn, a rock formation that looks like a yawning hippo.
Enjoy a country-style lunch and the sights of Hyden
Relax over an Australian country-style lunch at the Wildflower Shop and Cafe. After lunch, choose to visit the wildlife park, an antique lace collection that includes lace used in Princess Diana’s wedding dress, or the toy soldier museum.
Discover Aboriginal culture at Wave Rock and Mulka’s Cave
Explore Wave Rock, a huge prehistoric rock formation shaped like a breaking wave, along with a sacred Aboriginal site. Then head to Mulka’s Cave to see ancient Aboriginal art and learn about the Mulka legend before returning to Perth in the evening.
