Sumida Aquarium opened in 2012 in the West Yard of Tokyo Skytree Town Solamachi. It spans two floors, the 5th and 6th, with a total of 8 exhibition corners, making it an easy addition to a visit to Tokyo Skytree.

In the center of the aquarium is one of Japan's largest indoor open-air pool tanks. You can watch penguins and fur seals swimming and napping from various angles, close enough to almost feel them breathe.

Enjoy the jellyfish exhibits and the Edo-themed goldfish zone

The "Big Petri Dish", added in the July 2020 renovation, is a 7m-long basin-shaped tank with about 500 jellyfish floating in it. A glass-floor deck partly covers the tank, so you can feel as if you are standing on the sea where the jellyfish drift. The "Jellyfish Kaleidoscope Tunnel", a 50m-long slope designed like a kaleidoscope, and one of Japan's largest goldfish exhibition zones themed on "Edo" are also highlights.
