If you're looking to spend a day by the sea during your trip to The Hague, head to Scheveningen. Take tram 9 towards Scheveningen Noord from The Hague Central Station, and you'll reach the beach in about 15-20 minutes.
With its wide sandy beach, promenade, and the long pier stretching out over the sea, you can easily spend a whole day just exploring. It offers a completely different seaside view compared to the city center with its museums and historic buildings.
Featuring a Ferris wheel over the sea, speed boat tours, and an indoor LEGO experience, it's a great option for trips with friends or partners, as well as family travel with children.
Ride the Ferris Wheel Over the Sea on the Pier

The pier, a symbol of Scheveningen, was first built around 1900 as a promenade over the sea. Today, you can walk onto it for free daily from 10 AM. It's a hub for food stalls and activities like bungee jumping and zip-lining.
The SkyView de Pier Ferris wheel, located on the pier, operates with enclosed, air-conditioned gondolas. As you slowly circle, you'll get panoramic views of the sea, the beach, and The Hague's city skyline.
Your Ferris wheel ticket includes a choice of apple pie or brownie with coffee or tea. For the best ocean views, consider riding during the daytime when the sun is out.
Embark on a RIB Boat Adventure from Scheveningen Harbor

For a more thrilling sea experience, hop on a RIB boat departing from Scheveningen Harbor. With a professional captain at the helm, you'll race over the North Sea waves for about 30 minutes.
Before departure, you'll receive a safety briefing in English and Dutch, and then put on a life jacket and thermal, waterproof suits. From the sea, you'll get a fantastic view of the pier and The Hague's coastline.
Operating times vary by season and can change due to sea conditions, so be sure to check before booking.
Escape the Wind at the LEGO World on the Beach Promenade

On windy days when the North Sea breeze feels chilly, visit the LEGOLAND Discovery Centre Scheveningen located on the beach promenade. It's an indoor facility near the Kurhaus and the pier, so you don't have to worry about the weather.
It features a Miniland with LEGO replicas of famous buildings in The Hague and Scheveningen, a 4D cinema, and interactive play zones, making it a great place for families with children.
While seasonal beach clubs typically close by October, several permanent beachfront restaurants on the southern part of the promenade remain open through winter. The Ferris wheel may stop operating in high winds, so check beforehand. If you're looking for a day by the sea, consider taking the tram to Scheveningen.
