Barcelona Zoo, located in Ciutadella Park, prioritizes animal welfare and conservation. It carries out various programs and research for the preservation of endangered animals. Barcelona Zoo is operated directly by the city after Lluis Marti donated it to Barcelona. The zoo covers an area of approximately 130,000 square meters and houses over 4,000 animals of over 400 species. It was the first in Barcelona to create an African section where you can see giraffes, hippos, rhinos, and zebras. You can also see a variety of waterfowl in the artificial waterfall created in this area, making it a highly recommended experience.
