BESTIt was nice to be able to quickly show the QR code and enter without having to wait to buy tickets! Since it's a trip with elementary school children, I don't think there's anything more time- and energy-efficient than reducing the waiting time to enter.
Prado Museum,
look at the renaissance
The Prado Museum is Spain's representative art museum and displays works of art collected by the Spanish royal family since the 15th century. It is considered one of the top three art museums in the world and was selected as the best art museum by National Geographic, so we recommend visiting this place.
Inside, there are about 1,500 works on display, including Velázquez’s ‘Las Meninas’ and ‘The Surrender of Breda Castle.’ Admire the masterpieces of great figures who led the golden age of the Renaissance, such as Raphael and Botticelli.madrid travel,
At the Prado Museum
The Prado Museum is one of the world's top three art museums and is a must-see attraction when traveling to Madrid. About 1,500 works are on display, including works by Goya, famous for ‘The Family of Carlos IV’, ‘Macha Unclothed’, and ‘Macha Clothed’, as well as Velázquez’s ‘Las Meninas’ and ‘The Surrender of Breda Castle’. You can also see works by representative artists of the Renaissance era, such as Raphael and Botticelli.
Not only does it have a large collection of works, but it also has the elegance of the building itself, so it's a good idea to take your time and look around!
Introducing the structure of the Prado Museum
The Prado Museum has a total of two floors. There are three doors on the first floor, named after painters. There is the Velazquez Gate in the center, and the Goya Gate and Murillo Gate on each side of the building.
Floor-by-floor introduction:
On the first floor, you can see Italian Renaissance paintings, Spanish paintings, Fladre paintings, etc.
Major works: El Greco's 'Holy Trinity', Murillo's 'Adoration of the Shepherds', Flemish Bosch's 'Garden of Delights', Weiden's 'Descent from the Cross'
On the second floor, you can see the works of Spanish painters in more detail. It's also nice to be able to see French paintings.
Major works: Velázquez's 'The Maids' and Goya's 'Macha Dressed' and 'Macha Undressed'
Special collections of the Prado Museum
The Prado Museum in Madrid has a wide variety of works and sculptures, but its best collection is its collection of European paintings. In particular, the works of world-class Spanish painters are the most famous. This is because the Prado Museum itself is the museum that holds the largest collection of works by Spanish painters.
You can see masterpieces by historical Spanish painters such as Bermejo, Berrugete, El Greco, Murillo, Velázquez, Goya, Lopez, and Sorolla.
Don’t miss the Velázquez and Goya collections
You cannot miss the works of Velazquez and Goya, the two most notable painters at the Prado Museum. The Prado Museum displays about 50 works by Velázquez, including The Maids and The Triumph of Bacchus.
We also have about 140 works by Goya, which were provided to us through the Spanish imperial family. Of course, you must see Goya's works: Maha Dressed and Maha Undressed. It's a work of the same pose, but one is wearing clothes and the other is undressing. This work is even more meaningful because Goya is a writer who asks profound questions about human existence.
There are various facilities
In addition to the exhibition facilities on the first and second floors, the Prado Museum has various auxiliary facilities such as a cafe, restaurant, library, souvenir shop, and conference hall. Among them, Cafe Prado is worth a visit. When taking a break after visiting the art museum, enjoy a cup of coffee at a cafe and take some time to relax.
If you find it difficult to see it alone, a tour is also good.
The Prado Museum boasts such an extensive collection that you could miss out on a lot if you explore it on your own. So, I recommend booking a tour to view the work in detail.
