In the Mayan civilization
Historic sites not to be missed
Chichen Itza means holy water or well. People began to settle in Chichen Itza around 550, and it is said that they came here because it was easy to get water thanks to caves and water holes known as 'cenotes'. The multi-tiered pyramid of castles and temples of warriors is nothing short of amazing. You should also see the large square called the Great Market and the Coliseum with its stone gates used for ancient ball games.
Also, you must see the 22.5m high observatory known as Karakol. Since it is a very popular travel destination, make a reservation in advance at a discounted price and enter comfortably.
