Meeting his works in the city where Picasso was born
The Malaga Museum was established based on the artist's wish to have his works exhibited in the city of his birth in 1881. The Junta de Andalucía provided the core of the art collection and established an ambitious project dedicated to the artist. Located in the Palacio de Buenavista, designated a National Monument in 1939, Museo Picasso Málaga opened its doors in the heart of Malaga in 2003. The building harmoniously blends Renaissance and Mudéjar elements with serene contemporary touches. Phoenician, Roman, and Arab ruins can be found on the lower floors. The permanent collection includes Picasso's early works.
With an integrated ticket, you can also access temporary exhibitions at the museum. Admire his interpretations of Old Masters, right up to his final paintings from the 1970s.
