Your ticket grants you access to walk along the immense double walls with 52 battlements encircling the ancient village, and to the Comtal Castle. You can also visit the 14th-century great well.

Napoleon decided to demolish these structures in the 19th century, but fortunately, a campaign to save Carcassonne was successful, and it was restored. It has since become a UNESCO World Heritage site.
