Era Galleries

In the galleries, which are organized chronologically by different eras of British music, you can see exhibitions on early British music from the 1940s and 1950s, the swing era of the 1960s, the punk and new wave movements of the 1970s and 1980s, the Britpop era of the 1990s, and contemporary music.

Iconic Exhibits

The BME has a variety of exhibits, including costumes, instruments, memorabilia, and handwritten lyrics from famous British artists and bands. See exhibits such as the guitar played by Noel Gallagher of Oasis, David Bowie's Ziggy Stardust costume, and the original lyrics to New Order's 'Blue Monday'!
