We introduce the Maritime Museum, established in 1959 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Vancouver, Canada's representative maritime city. With the ocean of the vast Pacific coast as its theme, models of sailing ships, merchant ships, and naval ships from the 15th century Age of Exploration to the present are on display. In particular, you can experience climbing onto the St. Rock, the first ship to sail to the North American continent.
The Age of Exploration
Explore it
Did you know that the name 'Vancouver' is derived from the name of Captain George Vancouver, who explored the Pacific coast? As Canada's third largest city, Vancouver is a port city with a strong connection to the sea. Located in laid-back Vanier Park, the Vancouver Maritime Museum features model ships, maritime collections, and a preserved 'St.
Saint Roch Lake
The permanent exhibition features the St. Roch, the original purpose of the Maritime Museum. St. Roch was the first ship to cross the Northwest Passage from west to east between 1940 and 1942. Climb aboard the historic ship, take the wheel yourself, and explore the story of St. Roch’s arduous voyage.
Various exhibition programs
The Vancouver Maritime Museum explores shipwrecks, lighthouses, fireship history, and the Northwest Passage. After viewing dozens of voyages recorded through books and maps, you can also see current-day vessels in the free outdoor exhibit. After exploring the Maritime Museum, take a relaxing walk in nearby Hadden Park. Why not end the day with a leisurely stroll along Hadden Beach, a popular sunset spot, with your dog?
