San Giorgio Maggiore's Popular Attraction,
The Fortuny Museum
A must-visit when traveling to Venice. Introducing the Fortuny Museum located on San Giorgio Maggiore Island. You can experience the customs and traditions of Venice, and the interior is filled with amazing wooden lintels and marble columns that will leave you wide-eyed. This is where designer Mariano Fortuny restored the palace to regain its lost beauty, and it houses works by various designers.
History of the Fortuny Museum

Born in Granada, Spain in 1871, artist Mariano Fortuny purchased the Fortuny Palace in 1902 and used it as his residence and workspace. Fortuny devoted himself to creative activities in the quiet environment of the island, leaving behind various works dealing with the scenery and people of the island.
After Fortuny's death in 1949, his wife Henriette Nigrin donated the Palazzo Fortuny to the Italian government, and it was reborn as the museum it is today.
