With your ticket, you can walk along the massive double walls with 52 watchtowers surrounding the ancient town and visit the Château Comtal. You can also see the 14th-century Great Well.

Napoleon decided to demolish the building in the 19th century, but fortunately, a campaign to save Carcassonne succeeded, and it was restored. It has since become a UNESCO World Heritage site.
