BESTYou have to enter in advance to get a koala hug, and due to time constraints, we only came to see the faces. But feeding the kangaroos was an amazing experience! There is more food than you might think, so only one bag is enough for each team. Since the weather is very hot, sunscreen and an umbrella are recommended. It was a pleasant visit with tickets available immediately and at an affordable price. I recommend purchasing zoo tickets through WAUG!
The world's largest koala sanctuary,
Brisbane Lone Pine
Visit the world's largest koala sanctuary, recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records, and see over 130 koalas and over 70 species of native Australian animals! This zoo, selected by AOL as one of the world's 10 best zoos, was created in 1972 for koalas who had lost their families, were injured, or were driven away, and was the world's first koala sanctuary at the time.
Here, you can meet Australia's bush turkeys, kangaroos, platypias and wombats, as well as adorable koalas.
All about koalas,
Even native Australian animals
Learn about the environment in which koalas live, feed them, take photos and experience everything about koalas.
But the Koala Sanctuary isn't just about koalas! Watch parrots interact with their trainers and learn about a fascinating range of birds, including eagles, owls and hawks. While you're here, you can also watch energetic sheepdogs perform alongside their shepherds.
Interact directly with the natural environment
Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary focuses on hands-on animal interaction. From cuddling koalas to hand-feeding kangaroos and meeting a variety of Australian wildlife, it’s all done in a beautiful natural setting. One of Brisbane’s top tourist attractions, it’s located just 50 minutes from the Gold Coast.
Home to 130 koalas and over 70 other native Australian animals, you can not only see them, but interact with them, learn about them and be inspired to make small, positive changes to your everyday life to help protect native wildlife and habitats.
Buy food and feed it yourself
The feeding area is open daily from 9am to 4:30pm! You can purchase a bag of food at the entrance and hand it out to the kangaroos. Being able to see and interact with wildlife up close and personal will surely be one of the most memorable experiences of your trip to Australia.
