Mini Gobi Desert, Elseung Tasar Sea Desert
The Elseung Tasar Sea Desert is located in the south, about 260km away from Ulaanbaatar, and is called a mini desert. This desert is over 80km long and has a different charm as it blends in with the grasslands.
Elseung Tasarhae is said to mean ‘a break in the sand, a splitting sand.’ It is made up of small sand dunes in a grassland, and it is said that the sand here is finer and softer than the sand in other areas. It is a popular tourist destination because you can enjoy various desert experiences, such as camel trekking and sandboarding, without having to go far to the South Gobi Desert.
Terelj National Park, Mecca of Mongolian nature
Terelj National Park in Mongolia is one of the largest national parks in Mongolia and was established in 1992 to preserve and protect Mongolia's natural and cultural heritage.
Terelj National Park has beautiful scenery, including wide plains, cliffs, and windswept sand dunes. Additionally, this area preserves many of Mongolia's traditional portable tents, Gers, and provides an opportunity to experience Mongolia's traditional life and culture.
Here you can enjoy a variety of outdoor activities, including trekking, camping and safaris, and experience beautiful landscapes and interesting biodiversity.
A night in a ger with the Milky Way
A 'ger' is a traditional Mongolian house made of wood and covered with leather or thick cloth made from animal fur.
Spending a night in a ger will be a special time where you can experience Mongolia’s unique culture firsthand! At night, use an astronomical telescope to get a closer look at the beautiful and amazing Milky Way and its stars. Encountering the countless stars and milky way that decorates the night sky will become an unforgettable memory for a lifetime.
Taste traditional Mongolian lamb dish, Khorkhog
When it comes to Mongolia's representative traditional food, you can't leave out Khorkhok.
Khorkhuk is a dish originally made in Mongolia when there are special guests or family events. It is completed by adding pre-heated Mongolian grassland pebbles called 'choto', lamb, vegetables, etc. and cooking them for about 2 hours. If you travel to Mongolia, you can try the traditional dish khorkhog, which you must try at least once. If you can't eat lamb, don't worry! Outdoor pork belly is also available as a special meal.
