BESTI wanted to visit Gyeongju, the ancient capital of Korea, so I joined a day trip tour from Busan. It's a place that's hard to get to on your own, so it's really convenient to have a tour like this. We arrived there in about an hour and a half by bus, and first went to the World Heritage Site, Bulguksa Temple. The temple, nestled in the mountains, has a quiet and solemn atmosphere, and it was a valuable opportunity to experience traditional Korean architecture and Buddhist culture. In the afternoon, we visited Donggung Palace, Wolji Pond (formerly Anapji Pond), and the ancient tombs of Daereungwon, and felt like we had traveled back in time. The scenery is especially beautiful in spring and autumn, and there were many recommended spots for photography lovers. The Japanese guide was very polite and easy to understand, and even though I'm not very familiar with Korean history, I was able to learn a lot. This is the perfect tour for anyone interested in history and culture!
Roofless Museum,
A historical journey to Gyeongju
Explore Gyeongju, a city filled with cultural assets of great historical and cultural value, on a day tour.
Most of the courses on this tour are UNESCO World Heritage Sites. You can see everything from Bulguksa Temple, a temple that is like a symbol of Gyeongju, to Yangdong Village with its simple yet noble charm, Daereungwon, a collection of tombs from the Silla Dynasty, and Hwangridan-gil, Gyeongju’s representative hot spot, to Woljeonggyo Bridge, which is twice as beautiful at sunset, and Donggung Palace and Wolji Pond.
How about meeting up for a day tour that takes you from Busan to Gyeongju and back, without worrying about transportation between tourist attractions?

Explore Gyeongju: A Journey Through a Millennium of History
Most destinations on this tour are UNESCO World Heritage sites. This city is full of rich historical heritage and stories. Experience the culture of the Silla Dynasty and the tranquil vitality of Gyeongju on a day tour.
This bus tour to Gyeongju is recommended for those interested in history or those who want to escape the complex city.
Bulguksa Temple: Paradise on the Mountain of National Defense

Bulguksa Temple has many more stories than those found in textbooks.
Located on Mt. Tohamsan in Gyeongju, which was considered a mountain of national defense during the Silla Dynasty, Bulguksa Temple's symbols are the Dabotap and Seokgatap pagodas, which are depicted on the back of the 10 won coin. In addition to their symbolic meaning, there is a touching love story of a married couple. The Seokgatap Pagoda, which faces the Dabotap Pagoda, is also significant as the place where the world's oldest woodblock print, the Mugujeonggwangdaedaranigyeong, was discovered.
With so much history compressed into one temple, it is recommended to visit with children studying Korean history.
Yangdong Village: A Village of Kind Hearts

The second stop is Yangdong Village, where the spirit of our ancestors, who valued the harmony of tradition and nature, is alive.
Yangdong Village not only has the longest history among Korean clan villages, but its value has also been recognized worldwide for its excellent preservation of the essence of Confucian culture. Stroll along the low walls and immerse yourself in the traditional atmosphere, where you can see a spectacle of tiled-roof houses and thatched-roof houses.
There are also various educational programs related to the village, so experiencing our traditional culture and customs represented by Confucianism will be a memorable travel experience.
Silla Tombs and Gyeongju Hotspots in One Alley

Introducing Hwangridan-gil, the most vibrant downtown area in Gyeongju, created to face the calmness of the Silla Dynasty tombs that have been transformed into parks.
Daereungwon is a tomb complex of the Silla royal family and aristocrats, where Cheonmachong, represented by 'Cheonmado,' is located. The highly raised mounds resemble small hills, making visitors feel at ease, and the inside of Daereungwon is well-maintained with trees and walking paths, making it perfect for a leisurely stroll and healing. You can walk directly into Cheonmachong, and Daereungwon is also a famous photo spot representing Gyeongju, so be sure to take a picture when you visit.
In Hwangridan-gil, you can find rows of shops with tiled roofs. Restaurants and cafes that capture the atmosphere of Gyeongju are gathered on this street. In Hwangridan-gil, we recommend trying the 10-won bread with mozzarella cheese in the shape of a 10-won coin and the famous snack Hwangnam Jjondeugi, which has spread throughout the country.
Woljeonggyo Bridge: A Night View Embroidered with Light

After sunset, the reflection of Woljeonggyo Bridge illuminated by colorful lights on the stream is a night view course that cannot be missed on a trip to Gyeongju. We recommend viewing the entire view of Woljeonggyo Bridge from the middle of the stepping stones facing Woljeonggyo Bridge. You can also go directly up to Woljeonggyo Bridge, so looking at the stream from the bridge will also be a charming experience.
Don't miss the night view of Woljeonggyo Bridge, which perfectly restores the splendor of the Silla Dynasty at its peak.
Donggung Palace and Wolji Pond: A Steady Seller of Gyeongju Night Views Left by Silla

If Woljeonggyo Bridge is an emerging night view spot, Donggung Palace and Wolji Pond, formerly called 'Anapji,' are a steady seller of Gyeongju night views.
As it was used as a separate palace during the Silla Dynasty and used to host banquets or entertain distinguished guests of the country, the splendid night view surrounding the pond will captivate you. Visit Donggung Palace and Wolji Pond and take a walk through the essence of the tranquil atmosphere of Silla that is revealed at night.
