Almaty Bogdanovich Glacier Hiking Tour (Shymbulak Cable Car & Hotel Pickup)

Ascend to the alpine zone via Shymbulak

After being picked up from your designated hotel in Almaty, you'll head to Shymbulak. Enjoy the magnificent scenery of the Tian Shan Mountains as you ride the cable car up the mountain. Before starting your hike, your guide will brief you on safety procedures and provide you with necessary equipment, including a helmet, hiking poles, and crampons. As you'll be traversing alpine and glacial terrain, follow your guide's instructions closely.


Hike to the Bogdanovich Glacier

From the alpine zone of Shymbulak, follow the approximately 1.8km hiking trail to the Bogdanovich Glacier. Get a close-up view of Almaty's alpine landscape, where rugged peaks, rocks, and ice converge.

Along the way, your guide will share insights into the glacier's formation process, its structure, and the surrounding ecosystem. You'll have opportunities to observe unique ice formations and glacial features and capture them in photos.


Encounter the living glacier up close

Upon reaching the Bogdanovich Glacier, take in the extraordinary scenery created by the massive ice formations and surrounding mountains. Depending on the daily glacial conditions and safety parameters, you'll explore the area around the glacier with your guide. After ample time to admire the views, you'll descend with your guide and take the Shymbulak cable car back down. The tour concludes with a drive back to your hotel in Almaty.
