Set sail for the UNESCO World Heritage Elephanta Caves
This half-day tour departs from Mumbai, taking you to the UNESCO World Heritage Elephanta Caves with a knowledgeable guide. Your journey begins with a scenic ferry ride across the sea for approximately 1 hour to Elephanta Island.
Ascend 120 steps to reach the cave entrance
Upon arrival at the island, you'll climb 120 steps to reach the plateau leading to the cave entrances. Toy trains are available for transport within the island, and complimentary bottled water is provided upon arrival.
Discover Hindu & Buddhist caves and the Trimurti sculpture
Step inside the magnificent rock-cut halls, a masterpiece of 6th-century architecture supported by colossal pillars, and explore the three main caves. Your guide will illuminate the history and fascinating aspects of Indian religious history related to the artifacts and structures found in the seven major excavation sites.
Each cave boasts unique characteristics. You'll find a large Hindu cave and a Buddhist cave, and in the cave dedicated to Lord Shiva, you can witness the awe-inspiring Trimurti sculpture. The cave exploration will last approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes.
Return to Mumbai by ferry
After exploring the Elephanta Caves, you'll take the ferry back to Mumbai, a journey of about 1 hour. Please note that the meeting and drop-off points may vary depending on the option you book.
