San Francisco Bike Rental - Self-Guided Golden Gate Bridge, Sausalito & Tiburon Route

Get your bike fitted and pick up route tips at the shop

Start from the rental shop near the Powell/Hyde cable car turnaround at Fisherman's Wharf. The staff will fit the bike to you and give you a safety orientation along with a map and suggested routes. You also receive a helmet, lock, handlebar bag, rear rack with bungee cords and a phone holder.

Follow the waterfront bike path across the Golden Gate Bridge

Ride past Aquatic Park, Fort Mason, the Marina and the Presidio on mostly flat bike paths to historic Fort Point beneath the Golden Gate Bridge. Along the way, enjoy views of Alcatraz and the Palace of Fine Arts.

Cross the bridge on the sidewalk while taking in views of the city and the bay. After crossing, a downhill ride of about 10 minutes brings you to Sausalito.

Explore Sausalito and Tiburon, then return by ferry

Sausalito is a great spot for a quick meal, some shopping and a break. If you want to ride further, pass the marshlands and the houseboat community to Old Mill Park in Mill Valley, where you can see redwood trees at the foot of Mount Tamalpais.

You can continue along the waterfront bike path to the fishing village of Tiburon. From Tiburon or Sausalito, take the ferry back to San Francisco with your bike. Ferry tickets can be purchased separately at the rental shop.
