San Francisco Alcatraz Island Prison Tour + Golden Gate Bay Cruise Combo

Take the ferry from Pier 33
to Alcatraz Island

Collect your tickets at 571 Post Street at least 2 hours before your scheduled Alcatraz departure, then arrive at Pier 33 at least 30 minutes before departure to board the ferry. Alcatraz ferries leave promptly at the scheduled time. On the way to 'The Rock', listen to the 45-minute 'Doing Time' audio to learn about the island's history.

Hear the prison's history on the audio tour

When you arrive on the island, head to the cellhouse and pick up your audio headset. Alcatraz was a Civil War fort and a military prison before becoming one of America's most notorious federal penitentiaries. Hear the stories of real guards and inmates who lived and worked here, including Al Capone and George 'Machine Gun' Kelly.

After the audio tour, take photos and explore the island at your own pace. Enjoy views of the San Francisco skyline from the ferry dock, then take the next ferry back to San Francisco.

Sail under the Golden Gate Bridge on the bay cruise

The sightseeing cruise is a separate tour from Alcatraz. Cruise along San Francisco's historic waterfront past Fort Mason, the Presidio and Crissy Field, sail under the Golden Gate Bridge and around Alcatraz Island. You can choose your preferred date and departure time for the cruise.
