into Alta's Arctic night
Meet your guide outside Scandic Hotel Alta in the town center or at the Alta cruise port, then set off by bus. There is no fixed route: your guide checks the weather and sky conditions in real time and heads to the place with the best viewing conditions that night. The bus has an on-board toilet.
Warm up by the campfire with roasted marshmallows
At the viewing spot, gather around the campfire and wait for the sky. Roast marshmallows, enjoy snacks, and warm up with tea, coffee, or hot chocolate.
Learn about the aurora from a guide with a science degree
Your guide holds a master's degree in science and explains the physics behind the aurora, including solar wind, the KP index, and why it glows green on some nights and, more rarely, red and purple on others. Two guides stay with you all evening, so there's plenty of time to take photos and enjoy the moment without rushing.
Receive professional souvenir photos
Every guest receives photos taken by a professional under the Arctic night sky at no extra cost. At the end of the tour, ride the bus back to the drop-off point (Havneveien 32 or Løkkeveien 55).
