Tours & activities worldwide.
This is a 2-hour small-group boat tour in a semi-rigid boat (RIB) departing from in front of MuCEM in Marseille to explore Château d'If and the Frioul Islands. You can view Château d'If, famous as the setting for the novel "The Count of Monte Cristo," up close from the sea while listening to the captain's stories about the castle and the Port of Marseille. Anchor in a cove of the Frioul Islands, surrounded by limestone cliffs and crystal-clear waters, to enjoy swimming and snorkeling. The maximum number of participants is 11.

Board the boat with a local captain at the boarding point behind the MuCEM (Museum of European and Mediterranean Civilisations). As soon as you depart, you can admire the MuCEM, Fort Saint-Jean, the Marseille Cathedral (Cathédrale de la Major), and the entrance to the Old Port from a unique angle on the water.

Head to Château d'If, a fortress once used as a prison and made famous by Alexandre Dumas's novel "The Count of Monte Cristo." The captain will share the history of this place and anecdotes about the Port of Marseille, and there will be time to take photos. You will view Château d'If from the boat; there is no disembarkation or indoor tour of the island.

Explore the Frioul Archipelago between limestone cliffs and pristine coves. Depending on sea conditions, you will stop at coves around Pomègues and Ratonneau islands, or Calanque des Cambrettes, which are only accessible by boat. Once anchored in a secluded cove, you can swim in the turquoise water and explore the underwater world with the masks and snorkels provided on the boat. On the way back, pass by Vallon des Auffes to enjoy the scenery of Marseille once more before disembarking at MuCEM.
※ The swimming spot is decided by the captain based on wind, sea conditions, and the number of visitors.
※ Swimming may be modified or canceled depending on safety conditions.
