Drive about 45 minutes south of Perth to Shoalwater Islands Marine Park, a beautiful bay dotted with limestone islands. Transport from the city is included if required. On arrival, meet your group, get an equipment briefing and hop into an easy-to-paddle double kayak with waterproof storage.

Paddle to Seal Island to look for sea lions

First, paddle about 1 km to Seal Island to observe Australian sea lions. In normal conditions (a light easterly breeze), this leg takes about 15 minutes. Along the way, look out for dolphins and seabirds such as pelicans, ospreys, cormorants and sea eagles.

Enjoy a picnic lunch and hike at Point Peron

Next, paddle about 2 km (around 30 minutes) to land at Point Peron, where your guide serves a healthy picnic lunch. Afterwards, relax in the shade or sun, go snorkeling, swimming or kayaking, or explore at your own pace, and hike with your guide to the Point Peron lookout for views over the marine park.

Around 1:30 PM, regroup for the 2.5 km paddle back. When the wind is favorable, the kayaks are often rafted together to sail back. Pack up the gear and change into dry clothes (restrooms are available at the start and finish point) before driving back to Perth, arriving around 3:30 PM.
