This day trip takes you by ferry from the Greek island of Kos to the volcanic island of Nisyros. After a bus ride to the volcano, you walk right into the crater to see bubbling mud pools and steam rising from the ground up close. You also stroll through Mandraki village, lined with blue-and-white houses, and visit Panagia Spiliani Monastery, known as one of the beautiful monasteries of the Greek islands. Hotel pickup, the ferry to Nisyros, and an English/German-speaking guide are included for an easy day out.

Take a ferry from Kos
to the volcanic island of Nisyros
You are picked up from your hotel between 8:00 AM and 8:45 AM depending on your area and taken to Kardamena Port. From the port, a ferry carries you across the sea for about 1 hour to the volcanic island of Nisyros.
Walk inside the crater and feel the volcano's heat
On arrival in Nisyros, a waiting bus takes you on a short drive to the volcano. Along the way, your guide explains the history of the volcano and the island. At the volcano, walk into the crater to see bubbling mud pools and bursts of steam up close. The volcano entrance fee (€5 per person) is paid separately on site.
Explore Mandraki village and Panagia Spiliani Monastery
Back at the harbor, explore Mandraki village. After a short walk through narrow streets lined with blue-and-white houses, visit Panagia Spiliani Monastery.
Enjoy free time and return to Kos in the afternoon
Spend free time in the village for lunch (at your own expense) or shopping. At 4:00 PM, board the boat back to Kos.
