This roughly 2.5-hour eco tour lets you explore Akaroa Harbour and its marine reserve by sea kayak. Paddle along the turquoise waters of an extinct volcanic crater that has been flooded by the sea, exploring calm bays, sea caves and unique coastal formations. A local nature guide leads each small group of up to 8 people per guide and shares stories about the area’s marine life, including Hector’s dolphins, white-flippered penguins and fur seals. Stable double sea kayaks and all equipment are provided, so even first-timers can join.
