This experience brings the domus, an ancient house from the Roman Empire, vividly to life with VR headsets and multimedia video. First, a 25-minute video shows the past and present of Rome's major monuments, such as the Colosseum, the Roman Forum and St. Peter's Basilica. Then, at the domus ruins, you'll see mosaics, decorated walls and colorful floors in person, and use a headset to view virtual reconstructions of the rooms, kitchen and baths. An audio guide is included, so you can listen to explanations in several languages, including Japanese.

The experience begins with a 25-minute multimedia video shown in the Touristation office. It compares how Rome's major monuments, including the Colosseum, the Roman Forum, St. Peter's Basilica, Castel Sant'Angelo, the Circus Maximus and the Ara Pacis, looked in the past with how they look today. The domus visit starts one hour after the video.

Put on a headset and view virtual reconstructions of the domus's rooms, walls, mosaics, peristyle, kitchen, baths, furniture and decorations. As you explore an area that was very important in Roman times, you'll understand how Rome's ancient, medieval and modern layers connect.

You can also see what the area around Trajan's Column looked like long ago. Through a virtual restoration of the column, take a close look at the reliefs telling of Emperor Trajan's military campaigns and the conquest of Dacia, today's Romania.
